There was also the sense, during the Hannah Brown game, that all three bachelors were straight out of Central Casting (one was an awkward model, another a stand-up comic who had zero jokes). The guys vying for mystery celeb Nicole Byer were more authentic — No. 1, perhaps too much so, given how he likened the feeling of love to taking a good “dump” in the morning . These performances feel like they’re being beamed in from a stranger, better version of the show. And that’s where The Celebrity Dating Game really falls down. Whoever made it can’t seem to decide whether it’s a straight remake of a classic format or a mockery of it.
Said…Just when I thought broadcast networks have hit the bottom…. I find they are still digging that hole. Gotta admire their consistency at finding useless crap to air. Makes you long for a fun packed episode of ‘Battle of the Network Stars’. Mike Chimerisaid…I tolerate the new Celebrity Dating Game.

There is no Audience Score because there are not enough user ratings at this time. This show is one of the most stupidest shows ever. Network is reaching really far https://reviewsforsingles.com/dating-com-review/ here…. What were you thinking with this one. It’s not worth watching even if Michael Bolton does sing on it. So many other things you could have done with him.
It’s a very generous 3/10, because I feel sorry for Zooey stuck in this mess. What do you get when you pair an iconic musician with a talented actress/singer, add some nostalgia with a twist? It will be filmed in Los Angeles, and a premiere date will be announced at a later date. Deschanel, of course, is known for her starring adorkable role in Fox’s “New Girl,” as well as film credits like “ Days of Summer,” “Elf,” “Yes Man” and more. As a singer-songwriter, she’s part of the duo She & Him with M. I can imagine that it’s tough to find the perfect balance between picking up where something else left off and trying to create something new.
(Really, there’s no actual “game” involved, when you think about it.) Most of the more recent revivals have been propped up by being paired with The Newlywed Game, which has a stronger format. Jim Lange hosted the original with poise and gravitas. This new version, for unfathomable reasons, is hosted by Zoey Deshanel and even more mystifying, co-hosted by Michael Bolton. Imagine Alex Trebek being replaced on JEOPARDY by Paris Hilton. Out of place and with zero hosting skills. And Bolton has become Lurch of THE ADDAMS FAMILY.
The network has green-lit The Celebrity Dating Game, with each episode featuring three suitors competing to catch the attention of an anonymous celebrity. It will be hosted by two celebrities who know a thing or two about dating other celebrities, Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton. But the hosts won’t just help their celebrity guests pick a match — Bolton will put on “special parody performances” to help the suitors guess the identity of the celebrities. (Like, “Jack Sparrow” level of parody?) For now, it sounds as if Deschanel will live without that part of the job.

A series gets an Average Tomatometer when at least 50 percent of its seasons have a score. The Average Tomatometer is the sum of all season scores divided by the number of seasons with a Tomatometer. The reboot of The Celebrity Dating Game kicked off with former Bachelorette Hannah Brown, who unfortunately was not able to find love on ABC’s other dating juggernaut, The Bachelor franchise. The commodification of love in entertainment is a tried-and-true tradition that’ll probably keep on going for as long as “the arts” exist in its current form.
When asked if she’d be doing any singing on the show, Deschanel responded by looking to the future. “Probably next season. I ended up getting involved in this late in the game. By the time I was involved, everything was set with Michael. So, I just said I’ll handle the massive amounts of talking,” she said. “So, I said maybe next season I’ll do a duet or two with Michael.”
ABC revives The Dating Game with a silly celebrity version. The CW premieres a fanciful drama about a town that secedes from the United States. The original “Dating Game,” created by “The Newlywed Game” creator Chuck Barris, ran on ABC between 1965 and 1973 before going for one additional season in syndication. Though the show primarily featured everyday Americans, a number of celebrities appeared as special guest stars during the initial run, including Michael Jackson, Ron Howard and Sally Field. Bolton also serves as an executive producer on the Sony Pictures Television series, which owns the Dating Game format, with Charles Wachter Christina Kline and Wendi Wan also producing. The original The Dating Game ran on ABC from 1965 to 1973.

But earlier this year, she traded fictionalized first dates for reality TV — as a co-host of ABC’s The Celebrity Dating Game, which she runs alongside Grammy-winning artist Michael Bolton. Tonight, the first season finale airs at 10/9c. The celebrities will ask their potential love interests questions, and this sounds fascinating.

The celebrity identities will remain a mystery to their suitors, who are given clues via hilarious parody song performances by host Michael Bolton. Described as “a wry wink at modern dating,” the non-famous suitors have the opportunity to guess the secret identity of the celebrity contestant based on clues, questions and parody performances by Bolton. The network has greenlit a new version of the classic game show, hosted by New Girl star Zooey Deschanel and Grammy-winning singer Michael Bolton. Each episode will feature a celebrity guest, who will choose a date from a hidden panel of three bachelors and/or bachelorettes based on their answers to the celeb’s questions. The suitors will also try to guess the celebrity’s identity during the game based on clues, questions, and “special parody performances” by Bolton.
The 2 hosts just don’t work well for the show. The Celebrity Dating Game has been cancelled, so there will not be a second season. Andy Kaufman was known for his method acting, which was on full display in glorious fashion when he appeared on the show.
